New York Times article reports that vigilante groups are growing increasingly violent, as we have predicted

It is a very long article, so I won't report it in full here. The full article can be accessed at:

Online ‘Pedophile Hunters’ Are Growing More Violent — and Going Viral

With the rise of loosely moderated social media platforms, a fringe vigilante movement is experiencing a dangerous evolution.

A vigilante phenomenon has been playing out on the open web for almost a decade: Content creators in the U.S. pose as minors on dating apps and websites, then target the people who message them. Many of these vigilantes, commonly known as pedophile hunters, were inspired by “To Catch a Predator,” a popular television series that ran until 2007. The “hunters” have copied the show’s format, exposing their targets on social media.

But in the past two years, a growing number have gone a step further and violently attacked the targets in their videos, a New York Times analysis has found.

In one of the most brutal cases, a masked man who referred to himself online as “realjuujika” (real name:Ahmad Al-Azzam)allegedly broke into the home of a 73-year-old man in Pennsylvania last year, then tied him up and beat him with a hammer.

In a video, realjuujika stands over the bloodied man and claims he caught him trying to solicit sex from a 15-year-old boy. He robs the man and films his credit cards, sharing the information with his thousands of followers.

Realjuujika, at one point, turns to the man and says, “You will probably die tonight.” When the footage was streamed online weeks later, viewers cheered the violence.

The man was hospitalized, according to police reports, and needed surgery to stop the bleeding in his brain. The attack was part of a small, but disturbing trend that has spread on social media and attracted millions of viewers.

There have been more than 170 violent vigilante attacks by pedophile hunters since 2023, according to a Times analysis of hundreds of videos and social media posts. The footage shows hunters chasing their targets through retail stores, beating people bloody on public streets and shaving the heads of their targets. In the most extreme cases, people have been hospitalized with serious injuries.

The Times analysis found that at least 22 individuals and groups have inflicted violence in the name of pedophile hunting in the last two years, compared with roughly 40 others who made similar videos without violence. Most of the violent activity started in the past year.

“There has been a notable increase in overt physical violence within these groups,” said Emma Hussey, an Australian criminologist who studied U.S. pedophile hunters at Queensland University of Technology...

Some longtime groups have built larger audiences after turning to violence. Dads Against Predators, the most prolific group analyzed by The Times, was not violent in the majority of its videos when it started in 2020. But after it began posting on Locals three years later, videos showed the group routinely brutalizing its targets, attacking at least 100 people, The Times found.

The group now claims to have hundreds of paying subscribers, and clips from their videos frequently go viral.

“To see early videos, unedited videos, fights, and stuff that will get me banned on social media head to locals!” wrote Joshua Mundy, one of the group's founders, in a Facebook post...

Child predators are some of the most universally reviled people in the country. That has helped pedophile hunters shield themselves from public scrutiny of their actions. Often, the hunters post chat logs that they allege show their targets soliciting sex from people posing as minors, and in some cases law enforcement has worked with them to arrest and prosecute their targets.

But the violent groups are often less interested in working with the criminal justice system. “We don’t count arrests and catches,” Mr. Mundy said in an Instagram post claiming that Dads Against Predators had caused more suicides among its targets than any other group. “We count bodies.”

Law enforcement experts said those groups put bystanders in danger by attacking people in public places and jeopardize criminal cases.

“Attacking someone so you can make money on social media is a crime,” said District Attorney Christopher L. de Barrena-Sarobe of Chester County, Pa., where the realjuujika attack took place...

In October, students at Assumption University in Massachusetts allegedly lured a 22-year-old man to campus, called him a predator and chased and attacked him when he tried to escape, according to a police report. After reviewing the man’s Tinder messages, officers said the man had thought he was meeting an 18-year-old student, not a 17-year-old, as the students had alleged.

Two weeks later, fraternity members and pledges at Salisbury University in Maryland allegedly posed as a 16-year-old on Grindr, a dating app used primarily by gay men. They invited a man to an off-campus apartment, where they restrained him, called him slurs and broke one of his ribs. The age of consent in Maryland is 16...

In one of the final realjuujika videos, Mr. Al-Azzam, holding a hammer and wearing the same disguise he used during his attacks, recited a list of his motivations that echoed conspiracy theories popular in right-wing circles. He said the government was protecting “sick-minded people” and that presidents had sexually assaulted children. He asked for support from Mr. Ross and Andrew Tate, an online influencer known for his misogynistic views, who is facing criminal charges for sexual misconduct.

To his viewers, he called for action: “You guys need to stand up and get shit done.”...

These platforms gained prominence in recent years, after sustained right-wing outrage over claims of online censorship. Locals was founded after a right-wing personality was banned by its mainstream competitor Patreon for using a racial slur. Rumble, which acquired Locals in 2021, has been backed by prominent conservative figures. Before Vice President JD Vance became a senator in 2023, his venture capital fund was a major investor in the company. His office did not respond when asked if he still had an investment in Rumble...

In some cases, local officials did not charge them because the people who were attacked declined to press charges or never alerted law enforcement. In others, authorities themselves chose not to pursue charges.

Of the 22 violent groups and individuals identified by The Times, only seven appear to have been criminally charged for their actions, according to a review of police and court records.

Students who allegedly helped orchestrate the pedophile hunting at Assumption University are facing felony kidnapping and conspiracy charges. One of those students was also charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Students at Salisbury University were originally arrested on felony assault and hate crime charges, but most had their charges dropped or reduced to misdemeanor assault and false imprisonment.

Mr. Al-Azzam is facing more than 20 charges across multiple states and is being held on $1 million bail in Pennsylvania. His trial is pending.

But the criminal justice system has not deterred some of the largest groups.

Mr. Carnicom of Dads Against Predators and four other men were charged with a felony offense in Texas for chasing a man in a parking lot and beating him while he was on the ground in September. The attack was livestreamed on Kick. Mr. Carnicom left Texas before charges were filed and has continued to post videos on Locals...

If these groups do not advocate vigilante violence, then why...

Just a thought-- If these groups do not advocate vigilante violence, then why do they use so many violent images in their logos?

AZU: The Little Engine That Couldn't

Once upon a time, there was a little engine called "Absolute Zero United." It was a small pitiful engine looking for a little attention any way they can get it.

One day, the driver this  engine, codenamed "Stitches 77," said, "I know how I can continue to hurt others and gain approval from the people. I'll find some other group to target. By focusing on others rather than our own faults, I can gain fame, acceptance, and even money."

It settled on people convicted of sex offenses because they are an easy target. Surely no one will take up for them, right?

That is what the Engine thought until it found the website of one who had the audacity to speak up about the wrongfulness of laws targeting people who have served their sentences and deserve an opportunity to be a productive member of the community. Here she is, a mother of four children, whose children were suffering the consequences of badly devised laws. The audacity. So the little engine said, "I think I can ruin her life. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can..." So i began harassing this woman. It made fun of her. It threatened her. It published her address. It bragged about this crime on it's website day and night. It bragged about hurting her family. But then the woman fought back. She filed a federal lawsuit, and little engine became afraid. Oh shit!

Then a TV personality got wind of this story. "Just what I wanted," cried this little engine. "I'm going to be on TV! I think I can jump start my career with this publicity. I think I can, I think I can...." The engine was so happy, it drank and smoked crack to excess, so much so that when the engine got its time on TV, it was obviously wasted and make a complete ass of itself on national television. The little Engine looked even dumber.

The little Engine found more and more people willing to speak up. They were going to have a rally in Ohio! What to do, what to do! 'I know!" said the pathetic Engine. "I think I can bully these people into submission. I think I can, I think I can..." So this Engine found some biker wannabes and some other vigilantes to try to scare the rally attendants. But it didn't work. The little Engine and friends were outnumbered and confronted by the rally-goers. They went home defeated again.

So now these rally-goers started a growing movement to reach out to others being abused by people like this engine. Websites and groups sprung up all over the internet. The little Engine said, "They don't have a right to their opinions. I think I can scare them away from activism. I think I can, I think I can..." So it started harassing the bloggers. It created a fake Wiki site. It spread nasty lies. But their victims continued to fight back and grow stronger. Some even took the fight directly to them. The Engine began to lose steam. The engine became paranoid schizophrenic, accusing everyone from Patty Wetterling to Barack Obama to the Pope were all some massive conspiracy of "pedo sympathizers." It backfired. People slammed them in chatrooms, again and again and again and again. In desperation, they even added their sworn enemy to their ranks, which made them an even bigger laughing stock among their peers.

The little Engine slowly realized it was a failure at life. Slowly dissension and boredom caused many of the Engine's crew to lose interest in the Engine's trips to nowhere and the Engine grew rusty and stale from misuse. The Little Engine That Couldn't was eventually abandoned about a year ago, but every once in a while you can hear that old familiar ghostly toot of a past better left buried. THE END.

..... Every lame attempt Absolute Zero United has done for four long years has availed nothing. AZU has been dead, and nothing can bring it back to life. No one cares about you any more, Stitches 77. Most of your members moved on. You have no support from anyone. Even other vigilante groups shun you because you are a hindrance to them. You are a complete waste of humanity. Time to admit defeat and move on and fade away. You lose, Stitches. :)

More of the same but worth reading

First off, a new article which blasts AZU's idols John Walsh, Mark Lunsford, and Family Watchdog, among others exploiting sex offender panic for money:

http://www.oncefallen.com/bigregistry.html

And, once again, another death comment from an AZU mainstay, ZandJsMom:

Yawn... another day, another call for killing SOs

I know its par for the course, but another AZU POS troll, Rookiee, advocates murdering registrants. I just wish one of them had the guts to get in my face:

We know AZU boldly supports violence

Like you need any more proof Absolute Zero United supports committing violent crimes. Below are recent AZU comments:

http://www.haloscan.com/comments/absolutezero/6143684994377617365/#64289

They should just make it legal for citizens to punish these "childlovers" any way they see fit. That would reduce sex crimes against children.

I cant give a big enough AMEN to that sentiment.

The following comments were extrapolated from the "Mothers Against Predators" Yahoo Group, typos and all. As if we need any more proof AZU and their contemporaries are a threat to society:

To those who are serious about erradicating TERRORISTS OF CHILDREN, law enforcement
has kindly provided us with a list of  their addresses online to make it easier to locate them, in other words, the powers that be are getting fed up with how the courtts handle these TERRORISTS. In point of fact, even government/the courts themselves are sending not very subtle  message to PARENTS which is: "if you take care of them, we will not prosecute you, we will give you what amounts to a pass". Consider that even criminals in the prison system treat these TERRORISTS OF CHILDREN as they should be treated, with the brutality that they deserve.  Why is it that we, so-called "normal decent scitizens, allow these TERRORISTS to continue their reign of terror unopposed in  such huge numbers throughout our neighborhoods? The answer is, that we are a lot of cowards who get precisely what we deserve, and I include myself in this count, since I have done nothing as yet in the batlle to stop these TERROSISTS. Yes friends, I once even think I actually observed a near child abduction, and though I think that my mear prescence was what stopped the act from being carried out, since I had two tots in tow, I failed to accomapny this girl home and tell her parents what I thought might have enarly accured. I thought that she was old enough to have informed her parents, and I also "was not sure" that I had seen correctly.  This was 10 years ago, and a man in a truck was following closely behing this 10 year old girl, a neighbor of mine, not even a half block from her home. He spoke to her, then turned and saw me watching, as I had stopped dead still and was glaring at him. He then took off. What was I thinking?  This was before child abduction, amber alerts had fully entered the public consciosness as fully as it has now, but I was still extremely negligent in how I handled this incident.
So I now feel that we should ALL SHOULD BE DOING MUCH MUCH MORE TO STOP THESE TERRORISTS THAT WE CURRENTLY ARE - ALLOWING THEM TO DRIVE DOWN OUR STREETS AT WILL, TO LIVE AMONG US AND STUDY WHEN AND WHERE THEY WILL DECIDE TO SWOOP DOWN AND TORTURE AND KILL AN INNOCENT CHILD IS BEOYND MY SCOPE OF COMPREHENSION, CONSIDERING HOW MUCH WE ALL HAVE NOW BEEN EDUCATED ON THIS SUBJECT. IF WE ALL JOIN TOGETHER, AND AT LEAST PROTEST IN FRONT OF THESE TERRORISTS ADDRESSES ON A REGULAR BASIS, AND DEMAND THEIR PERMANENT INCARCERATION, IT IS THE LEAST WE CAN BE DOING.

If she is sure beyond a doubt, good for her. Rather than considering her act towards this most despicable of a pitiful excuse for a human being, it should be considered "maybe a misdemeanor" just like the courts punish those effing child molestors with.At best, she should be applauded for saving countless future victims of the child predator. Or, as reacting in a natural way to an act perpetrated against her child. Someone has to stop them and the legal system still won't.

Why do they hide?

http://www.corrupted-justice.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9261&start=45

Static Posted: Mon Mar 09, 2009 1:48 am    Post subject:-- Oh, I think that if she ever decides to go public with her identity, you and many other people will stand in shocked disbelief. You haven't figured out who she is yet? Think about it, and it'll come to you. So far, no one has gotten it right, not even CJBW. But as for how she'd feel that the public would know that she stands against pedophiles and pedo-sympathizers, I imagine she'll feel just fine with that- I don't know, you'd have to ask her. One thing I'm sure of though is that she won't run around whining about being "outed" because there is not one word she's written that she wouldn't stand by. Now if others would learn to be more careful about what they say in public, and would learn to retract any falsehoods they've spread- at least half of their problems would disappear...

Static Posted: Mon Mar 09, 2009 11:08 am    Post subject:-- "I can't really speak for Stitches, but I tried to tell him what I *think* her response would be to being "outed."

Static:-- Posted: Mon Mar 09, 2009 5:02 pm    Post subject:
I'm sure that if you have any questions for her, she's capable of speaking for herself.

I'm sure you've been wondering about this for a while, but why is it AZU members hide from the public eye? That's the million dollar question. To hear AZU's resident cock-in-mouthpiece Static tell it, we'll be in "shocked disbelief." I doubt it. But consider this, why would Stitches 77 hide her identity? Or pretty much every member of Absolute Zero United for that matter? After all, society has canonized lots of psychotic self-professed child advocates like Mark Lunsford and John Walsh. So why would AZU hide their identities if what they were doing was noble, given we allow deranged lunatics like Tammy Lee Gibson off the hook for the brutal assaults of Former Offenders?

Of course, what StatiCunt won't tell you is Stitches 77 has never stood behind her words or answered a direct question. After 15 months I still have never receive a response to that comment she made about Patty Wetterling. Which, of course, explains why she has her Tier 3 RSO yes-man speaking for her outside the confines of her dungeon. On the other hand, I have stood behind every assertion, every comment, and every stat I have inundated throughout the internet, because unlike AZU I back up my words with evidence. It takes more than a barrage of juvenile videos and doctored webphotos to bury the truth you stupid fucking trolls. But they're so deep in their cognitive distortions they'll never figure it out.

Back to my original question, why hide? Are they scared of being targeted like they have targeted so many others? Maybe, but the answer is a tad easier. The REAL reason they hide is because every time they HAVE gone public, they have ended up looking stupid:

http://absolutezerounites.blogspot.com/2008/12/your-typical-azu-troll.html

http://absolutezerounites.blogspot.com/2008/12/xavier-von-erck-stitches-77s-hero.html

http://absolutezerounites.blogspot.com/2008/07/city-beat-wasp-takes-heat.html

For far too long AZU has spread their disease but the more they do so, they more foolish they end up looking in the eyes of society! So much so even Walsh and Lungsfull won't publicly support AZU.

Just look at the rantings of deranged lunatic/ closet pedo "Logue hater," who thinks the following comment is "depraved:"

"Those of us who have these illicit desires are obligated by the law of the land to either not participate in these illicit activities or suffer the consequences. And that doesn't matter whether you think that is fair or not."

"Logue hater" thinks being obligated to the law is somehow wrong, and if you obey the law you are a sick bastard! That is why every member of AZU should be civilly committed or euthanized for the benefit of society. At the least, turn them over to the FBI.

The Lucifer Effect on Absolute Zero United

Ah, what a difference a week makes. I took a vacation, spent a wonderful Valentine's Day with my girlfriend and, well, just live life. Meanwhile, while I was out enjoying the sunshine and scenery without a single thought about the trolls at Absolute(ly) Zero (braincells), the AZholes "never sleeps."

http://www.haloscan.com/comments/absolutezero/3769064689703738483/#61373
I am an Anti and Anti's don't have time to sleep. -- Stitch-cunt

It is no wonder they suffer from so many cognitive distortions down at Absolute Zero United. Perhaps that is why they see the devil in everything but themselves. But when you see evil in everything, and you spend your time looking for the devil, it really distorts your thinking.

Rather than the usual retort of AZU's spiel, noting they couldn't go a day without talking about me, I want to share something education. I'm sure as a consequence AZU members won't read this, then.

Does anyone remember the "Stanford Prison Experiment?" --"The Stanford Prison experiment cast students as prison guards and inmates in a fake prison environment. It had to be terminated when the students bought into their roles so much that the guards started abusing the inmates and the inmates started to riot."

In the famous Stanford Prison experiment, the mock prison guards were given the power and authority over the mock inmates. One of the psychological tactics employed by the mock guards was the "dehumanization" of the enemy. By seeing the mock inmates as somehow less than human, the mock guards committed atrocious acts against the mock inmates, including even mock homosexual acts and physical abuse. Some guards consumed by their roles they were upset when the experiment closed after only six days. The conclusion is that the situation caused the behavior ("Situational Ethics/ attributions") rather than any predispositions of the guards, as they were thoroughly screened. [see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_prison_experiment]. Hence, Zimbardo has deemed this the "Lucifer Effect."

Absolute Zero United suffers from this same effect. Whatever noble cause they professed to engage in has devolved into casting pretty much everyone but themselves as evil. I'm sure along the way they sucked in a few people looking to legitimately combat pedophilia. And the anonymous internet gives them a power they could never obtain in the free world. But in "never sleeping," reading hours upon days upon weeks of "boy-chat" or "girl-chat" sites, NAMBLA, or whatever other illicit sites they pop into these days, it obviously has this effect on them. Coupled with man's tendency to generalize, we find AZU finds evil in pretty much everyone, even a woman who lost a child and helped create one of the first national sex offender laws in the country:

http://absolutezerounites.blogspot.com/2008/04/biting-off-more-than-they-can-chew.html

Absolute Zero Members have admitted to dehumanizing their targets:
http://absolutezerounites.blogspot.com/2008/04/overt-dehumanization.html

Stitch-cunt admits that she sees all sex offenders the same (except for her pet RSO Static -- hope she put on his flea collar and walked him today LOL):
http://absolutezerounites.blogspot.com/2008/04/overt-dehumanization.html

As a result, AZU feels justified by demonizing everyone that does not buy into their "kill all sex offenders" mentality. Below is a review of some of the effects of their distorted thinking:

1. AZU promotes vigilante violence. Stitch-Cunt takes it one step further by suggesting if you disprove of vigilante violence you are a pedo yourself:
http://absolutezerounites.blogspot.com/2008/05/azu-encourages-vigilantism-so-does.html

2. Stitches states that even Romeo and Juliet offenders should be dehumanized (unless, of course, we're talking about Mark Lunsford):
http://absolutezerounites.blogspot.com/2008/05/common-thread.html

3. AZU claims to detest sex crimes, but sees no problem promoting rape or mutilation of their victims:
http://absolutezerounites.blogspot.com/2008/10/azu-gets-off-on-thoughts-of-rape-deep.html
--and--
http://absolutezerounites.blogspot.com/2008/08/too-weird-for-words.html

4. AZU, or in this instance, their sister hate group Perverted-Justice, is not beyond exploiting a child's death for financial gain (note the case has nothing to do with a sex offender):
http://absolutezerounites.blogspot.com/2008/10/perverted-zeroes-trying-to-cash-in-on.html

That is just a few of the issues surrounding the mindset of Absolute Zero United. Unlike them, I take the time to go out and enjoy life. Perhaps that is why I can see the good in people. You'll never really see anything but hate and mockery at AZU. That is why you see the same here. AZUnites IS merely a mirror of AZU after all.

AZU ENCOURAGES VIGILANTISM! So Does Family Watchdog!

AZU denies they promote vigilante violence, but below is an exchange I had via IM by one AZ member who set up an anonymous account just to harass me:

myaccount238: If there is another Ohio rally, I will drive there to spit in your
face
me: That would be a big mistake
myaccount238: we'll see how tough you are quiverteeth
me: Better bring backup
me: By the way spitting is assault
me: You'd be arrested on the spot
Me: Your husband would be so jealous

(Thanks for being stupid AZU by the way. By the way they did call me "great"-- Thanks for the compliments LOL

myaccount238: You will win in court, sue everyone, and live happily ever after
myaccount238: ***** the great
Me: That's the plan
Me: Thanks for admitting I'm great)

By the way, AZU is pretty open about encouraging vigilantism. For example, AZU numbnut Carisma came to the rescue of Travis Metcalf, a man who was cited for disorderly conduct for threatening a sex offnder in public:

http://www.gjsentinel.com/news/content/news/stories/2008/05/08/050908_1a_sex_offender.html?cxtype=rss&cxsvc=7&cxcat=7#comments

Metcalf admits he lost control of his emotions.
“I was screaming at the top of my lungs at him,” said the 34-year-old Metcalf, a husband and a father of three children, ages 14, 12 and 5. “I ended up getting a ticket for disorderly conduct out of the deal.”

And Travis Metcalf should have gotten more, in my opinion, to teach people a hard lesson about vigilante violence. And he isn't learning his lesson:

"Despite his June 25 court date, Metcalf said he is keeping the pressure on Larsen by distributing fliers with Larsen’s picture and identifying information, and Metcalf is attempting to organize a 'parent watch' to raise public awareness. "

So it is NO surprise he fits in with AZU. So says Carisma:

By carimsa
May 11, 2008 10:14 PM
"Any parent would have done the same thing as Metcalf. He didn't assault him, he called him on it! Thank god he did."

No, any good parent would have called the cops and presented evidence of the former offender's improprieties. Not only is vigilante violence illegal, but DANGEROUS! Oh but there's more:

Metcalf is a hero and it appears the only people who don't realize it are guys who would think there's nothing wrong with lurking outside a preschool hiding in a bush.

Shouting at a man who is hiding in a bush outside a preschool is Not harassment.

These people don't seem to understand you just don't get a citation for "doing the right thing." Getting up and threatening a person is NOT "doing the right thing." CALLING THE COPS WHEN YOU SEE SOMETHING WRONG IS THE RIGHT THING!

Think about THIS folks, why is it Absolute Zero United hides their identity? Why aren't they touted as "heroes" for their work? Because cyberstalking, abuse of the registry, harassment, and threats of violence are ILLEGAL, that's why. They are CRIMINALS, plain and simple. Thugs.

By the way, why would a site like Family Watchdog tell people the first thing to do is to get up in people's faces. Read the article again:

Steve Roddel, president and CEO of Family Watchdog, said the 3-year-old site is updated throughout the day with the latest information available. He said he is unable to chastise people like Metcalf who use the site as a tool to protect their children and their community.
“It would be awfully hard for me to find fault with someone who is out trying to protect his community,” Roddel said.
He added that if a convicted sex offender is displaying high-risk behaviors, like hanging out at parks and schools with a puppy, that person should be confronted and made aware that he is being watched.
Tell them you know who they are, and, ‘You are not going to do it on my watch,’ ” Roddel said. “I wouldn’t necessarily call it overreacting.”

What happened to "if you see a crime call the police?" Duh. Someone shove the Watchmutt's nose in the shit they're shoveling! What if that guy had been packing heat? You don't just get up in a guy's face, that's a potentially dangerous situation. Hell, pull out a video camera, take pics, turn over to police, and the guy would have been in jail. Simple as 1-2-3! Of course, leave it to Family Watchdog and Absolute Zero United to put two and two together and only come up with three!

Oh yeah, one last thing, someone pointed out that I needed to add the following:

Note: The following information is provided as an awareness tool so that you can adequately protect yourself and your children from these individuals. The use of the sex offender registry information to harass, endanger, intimidate, threaten or in any way seek retribution on an offender through illegal channels is prohibited. Any person who engages or participates in such acts may be charged criminally."

And on the FamilyWatchDog TOS, it states:"Harassment, stalking, or threatening anyone on this list likely violates your state law and is neither condoned nor encouraged by Family Watchdog, its directors or employees."

So its not only illegal to use the registry info to harass people, it violates the Family Watchmutt TOS too! Then Roddel contradicts his own company. A classic!
