Today's word lesson: hyperbole

hy·per·bo·le   [hahy-pur-buh-lee]
noun Rhetoric .
1.
obvious and intentional exaggeration.
2.
an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”

Today's showcase is hyperbole. Hyperbole is an exaggerated statement. You see a lot of that on the AZU website or during those rare times the trolls venture from their little nests. See the following statement from Stitches 77, the queen of cognitive distortions:

AZU intentionally looks for the numbers that look the largest and run with it, despite having no references, only exaggerations. That is why armchair vigilantes cannot understand the complexity of statistics. Stats are college level courses. AZU consists of bored housewives with no credentials and no education. Sadly, so are many other so-called child victim advocates.

WHO claims 60 MILLION survivors? Besides AZU, just a handful of other misguided groups. Thankfully most people understand that as bullshit. When was AZU ever quoted as a legitimate reference? Answer: NEVER.

AZU's butthurt again. I guess they must've run out of Preparation H for their lips LOL.

How does it feel to be irrelevant, AZU?

Hm. I wonder how my butthurt friend feels knowing I had enough support to pay for my entire trip to New York City, where I have made more contacts and educated thousands more people?

Once again, I win, trolls lose. Only a coward hides behind a computer. I am enjoying watching states reject the Adam Walsh Act. Brings a smile to my face every time the voice of reason and truth triumphs over political pandering.

Considering what constitutes horrible sexual abuse in the mind of Stitches77 60 million out of 313 million is a conservative estimate. Stitches77 includes all the people who where undressed by some ones eyes when they where 18 and younger. Any one who participated in sexual exploration with some one more than 11 months older than them when they where under 18. Any one who's photo has ever been viewed by a guy jacking off when they where under 18.

If you consider Stitches77,s point of view a more accurate number would be 626 million of the 313 million Americans are "survivors"

Is Stitches able to reply to this blog? Would be interested in the numerical source too.

Stitches makes things up as she goes along, but this stat was simply made up and inflated by special interest groups. There are plenty of intentionally inflated stats out there, among the most famous is Chris Hansen's "50,000 online predators" stat he later admitted he made up.

As far as the 65 million survivors bullshit, my guess would be they took one highly inflated stat, the bullshit "one in 3 girls/one in 7 boys molested" stat, and someone took the USS population and divided it by the number. But there a lot of problems with that stat. It is merely an inflated stat derived from an inflated stat. The 1 in 3/ 1 in 7 stat is derived from a LA Times poll from 1984 where they went out and asked people if they believed they were molested as a child in the wake of the McMartin "ritual abuse" case. People believed if they had certain problems like alcoholism or depression it was because they were molested as a kid, even if you don't remember it. That's bullshit.

Yes, I moderate comments because as can be expected, I get a lot of idiot comments from cowardly anonymous trolls. I don't allow ad hominem comments or other useless drivel, only comments germane to the conversation at hand.

I've had to reject over a dozen comments just in the past week. If this blog was so ineffective, then why would AZU members spending so much time hurling anonymous threats and insults? They obviously fear me.
